House Pets Roasting...

Temperatures down to the low single digits and everyone wants to get close to the fire. Well, except Simon the sheepdog, who thinks we make it too warm indoors and tends to lie against an outside door to keep cooler. Sometimes the cats actually crawl under or behind the stove at night. I guess they like the warm bricks but that would be too hot for me.

Ahh nothing like a roasted pet. Kitty goes silly with our oil heater and would cook her self if I didn't make sure it was turned down.

When I was a foal you weren't even thought of yet.

Our black cat, who doesn't appear in the photo, crawls right under the stove to sleep. When she comes out, she's scorching hot and dangerous to the touch, though it doesn't seem to bother her at all.

We never have a fire on (we do have an electric one in the living room, but we only use the central heating), so our cat doesn't know what he's missing.

His owner has, however, taken to microwaving the wheat heat bag I use and tucking the cat up on his beanbag with it. Of this, in strident yelping tones, I disapprove. ;)

I suppose that dust comes from the stove. The draw on mine is so good most of it goes up the chimney when I am cleaning.

A lot of stuff here needs dusting. We keep house like the bachelor farmers we are. Dust in that photo does mostly come from the stove. Even the vacuum fails to remove it all.

I can recommend a damp cloth, or damp mop if you want to save your back.

I'll get around to it eventually. Every so often the dust becomes offensive enough that I do a thorough cleaning.
