April Showers

I expected rain yesterday, which didn't really happen much except before dawn. I didn't expect rain today, and especially not in the afternoon evening, but we have been getting intermittent thundershowers. I think these are the first real thunderstorms here this year.
Consequently, not much got done outside other than required animal care. Instead, I spent more time than I'd planned on in preparing dinner. I'd had a half ham in the freezer since December when it was bought on sale for Christmas dinner and then we were invited elsewhere. Pulled that into the fridge to thaw on Wednesday, so it was the set course. There were sweet potatoes, so we had those. I got fresh asparagus (nom!) at the market yesterday and we ate it all except for two stalks for each dog. They like it too. Applesauce, jell-o salad, and Gary made hummus (which I love.) Dessert is carrot cake, which we haven't cut yet.
Last night we watched The Waterhorse which turned out be be somewhat better than I expected. One of the better implementations of a Loch Ness monster that I've seen. The story setup was good as well, and the ancillary characters were nicely drawn. I think I'd give it four apples out of five. (But this time of year, apples aren't quite as good as in the fall. *snicker*)
Should've finished the guild newsletter, but I didn't. Perhaps in the morning early. It was a holiday (says here.)
Asher has been coughing again, which I attribute to the poor quality hay. It has dust and probably mold spores in it. The problem is that he breathes those while eating it. So we are rinsing his hay before giving it to him. Fortunately he doesn't seem to mind hay that looks like soggy shredded wheat. I haven't checked to see what it tastes like.
Not looking forward to a full five day week now, but what can you do?
