Fuffle?

Yeah. It's a handle that goes all the way back to the 1970s. There used to be free personal ads in the Chicago Reader, and we would exchange quips and jibes very slowly (at a rate of about 25 words a week) that way. I signed mine "Fuffle" and other well known writers included "Manuel Dexterity" and "Jaffy" and similar handles. Then on Compuserve's "CB" system, which was sort of a primitive IRC, I used the same nom-de-plume. After that it became my e-mail address and general online identity, including my first forays onto FurryMUCK, where Fuffle was a large gray and white sheepdog who never spoke but only mimed.

I need to make it a point to snuggle/hug my mate tonight. It's been far too long! With us both back in school and on different schedules it's hard to find the time. :(
