Can't... stay... awake...
Gods I'm glad it's the weekend, though there's a million things I need to do. At the moment all I want to do is sleep, and that makes it hard to accomplish much.
Sudden cooldown in the weather isn't helping either. Makes me want to hibernate.
I really have spinning and weaving to do, as well as gardening. Can't do the gardening this time of day, but I could do the other only I can't keep my eyes open. I really am a daylight critter.
With two staff retiring at the library, and budget cuts keeping us from hiring to fill all their hours, I'll be lucky to avoid being called on to work another evening shift. I don't know if I can handle that. It was almost impossible for me back in 1990 when I was a graduate student, and now I really doubt I can take that kind of schedule twisting.
Looking at the work schedules with the director this afternoon, I really don't see much option other than to cut the number of hours we are open. This isn't likely to set well with the boards, but I don't see much in the way of alternatives. Losing just four hours out of the week, likely on a weekday morning, would make a big difference. As it stands, if anyone got sick we'd be in a serious bind. It's not my call, and probably that's just as well. I will have to resist any swing shifts or scheduling, though. I can't handle it.

Date: 2010-04-17 02:07 am (UTC)hmmm, I woke with a start at 8:00, wondering where I was: the dog and I fell asleep watching my Vipo show that I like so much. erf! Typical old guy snoozing in the lounge chair in a dark room with the tube on... So now I'm playing around with new journals (plush specific) but can't find a damn invite code to connect dw to lj.
Good luck with the scheduling. I've been doing splits for about eleven years. Those suck, too ;o)

Date: 2010-04-17 02:43 am (UTC)Split shifts aren't as bad as swing, but I can't hack those either. I require a regular schedule and I fail at being nocturnal. Weird, I guess, since it seems that about 90% of the human race wants to be awake at night. The sun goes down and I turn off too.

Date: 2010-04-17 02:58 am (UTC)I imagine you get up early to take care of the critters. The dogs like me out of bed by 5:00 a.m. It's funny because I used to be a 'night' person, going to bed after 3:00 a.m. and getting up near noon.
On the subject of the codes, I looked through about a hundred postings for open codes and found zip. I even messaged the admins, but didn't hear back (I'm sure they're busy with FU fu'd...). I'd love a code, if you've one to spare. I hate asking, it's just how I am.
