Not long winded

altivoDue to wind. That is to say, the wind here has been howling all afternoon, though the sky has been clear. It's still gusting up to 45 mph and that's supposed to continue. We're afraid the power could go out at any time, so computers are being shut down ASAP.
RikkiToo is doing well enough. He has one of those funnel shaped collars on, which does not make him happy, and we're keeping him confined in Simon's old puppy crate. The crate is actually pretty large, about 2.5 x 4 ft. and 2.5 ft. high. All open bars so he can see in every direction. He hasn't complained much, and seems to be sleeping most of the time, but he did eat and drink this evening so that's good. He goes back on Monday for a checkover.
Doorbell rang unexpectedly this afternoon, and I went out to find a strange pickup in the drive with a kennel logo on it. I thought the driver would ask about a stray dog, but no. He had a German accent and wanted to ask about our horses. The boys are in a dry lot paddock that is visible from the road. He said he'd been watching them as he passed, and just wanted to know whether they were Haflingers, and if I had any to sell or knew who did. Turns out he was from Austria, so he is very familiar with the breed. I gave him the names of a couple of large breeders in the area and he said he'd been trying to reach them but they weren't returning his calls. Odd. He was very polite and apologetic about disturbing me, though it was nice talking with him and I didn't mind.
