Hope is in sight, I hope
May. 2nd, 2010 08:38 pmGary's final project, on which he is still working feverishly, must be handed in tomorrow by noon. Then he has an online final to take (and complete by Wednesday) and one more class session. After that, two weeks at least with no classes and no more grumpy, stressed out bear. At least until he finds something else to be grumpy and stressed out about. The other thing that was eating him, a choral performance, happened this afternoon (and was quite good, really) so that's finished as well.
I hope now he can get the lawn mower going before the grass gets so high we can't handle it. ;p
In honor of getting through the concert and finishing the term, I made some of his favorite stuff for dinner. We had a small pot roast slow cooked all day with apple and onion slices. That makes fantastic brown gravy, so mashed potatoes were required too. I would have made salad, but he wanted soup so we had vegetable soup. And for dessert I cut some of the first rhubarb, added strawberries from the grocery, and baked a pie. Oh, and black cherry Jell-o with peaches in it.
Dandelions are in full bloom. They seem to especially like places where we spread manure in the pastures last year or the year before. I should make a batch of dandelion wine, but I'm probably too lazy to crawl around out there and pick a bushel of flowers. There are plenty, though.
Kitty in a cage with a funnel on his neck is not happy. He is, fortunately, a docile beast so we are managing. Gary takes off the E-collar to let him eat, then puts it back. He's been refusing water, which isn't good, so tonight we mixed canned cat food (turkey) with water. That did the trick, and all of it went down like soup. Now we won't worry about him getting dehydrated.
Interesting side effect. Our other really old cat (she'll be 17 at the end of this month) has taken a sudden interest in toys that were put into the cage. RikkiToo rarely plays with toys anyway, and isn't interested at all now. Tikki, on the other paw, does play once in a while but when the toys were removed from the cage she appropriated them. Some of them make noise. I predict those are going to disappear when bedtime comes around.

Date: 2010-05-15 05:13 am (UTC)Kitty's are never happy with the funnels, is it a solid funnel or one of those bendy ones? My kitty is getting slower these days, she still seems happy enough but she is very elderly.
