It did rain, sorta. When I came out of the supermarket and started for home, there were raindrops hitting the windshield and the sky had grown gray. It stopped before I got home (3 miles.)

Mostly a pleasant day, though. Including watching the goofy neighbor wading down the middle of the creek on our land wearing tall rubber boots as if he were fishing for trout or bass. That stream is intermittent so there are no fish in it ever.

Gary thinks he saw a firefly at sunset, but I'm not convinced. It's too early for them by about six weeks. We haven't even had June bugs yet.

And I'm sleepy, so that's it for today.

Make up a story about how big the salmon were last year and how this year you expect them to be at least 15lbs. Make up something about climate change bringing them up the "river" more.
If he mentions it again later, tell him you've caught several already.

It's very cold here for a May. Everyone has noticed it, and there are no insects that I have noticed so far.

Wasps a plenty, here, but not a great deal else, though the rosemary leaf beetles are beginning to leave chomp-marks on the lavender bushes...

I've seen fireflies here as late as November, but that was a loner, late to come out. It looked eerie in the the Autumn desolation.
