Again with the rain
May. 27th, 2010 09:24 pmBut not really that much of it. I drove to work through rain this morning but it started after I left home and ended before I reached the library. The rest of the day was fine, without being too hot or humid. You folks out east can look forward to an improvement soon, I suspect.
As I figured, the third UPS is dead, though its batteries are not, apparently. But those batteries do me no good with the ones that have dead batteries. A reset has fixed the fourth unit, at least for the moment. The news that we really should replace a $700 UPS didn't go over very well. The one that died has been in service for six years, though. The other two should revive with new batteries, at about $60 for each. I have another APC with bad batteries that is technically my own now, but I will suggest getting new batteries for it at $88 and putting it in place of the dead one. Then I'll salvage the batteries from the dead unit, as they are perfectly usable for ham radio stuff.
Went to study group this afternoon to find (no surprise, I'm afraid) that I'm the only one who has completed even half the assignment. It's interesting and I'll forge ahead so I may be done by next month.
Gary didn't stay in Chicago tonight, but came back so he could mow some more (new tractor infatuation proves useful, eh?) We made ground turkey burgers on the charcoal grill, with baked beans, and a big salad. Sounds healthy, no? But we'll ruin that with some ice cream before bed, probably. ;p

Date: 2010-05-31 11:34 am (UTC)We did get some relief, and it's sunny at the moment, but the wire says rains will come.
Got the lawn done, at least.
