Out of curiosity I looked up a neighbor/family-type-friend whom I know to be a radio operator. I was surprised to find over seventy names registered for my town.
Looks like fun, but I just don't think I could handle another distraction ;o)
Yeah, no problem with the current license, it's good for life as long as I keep renewing it every ten years. In a way it's kind of better because I passed the General so long ago that I had to take both a 13 word per minute code test and the written exam at an FCC office under the supervision of an FCC official examiner. Now exams are given by groups of specially approved hams, which has a nice collegial feel about it but isn't really so intimidating.
Aww thanks. I'll take hugs any time. Now that I've started, though, I'm going to get this done, so I doubt I'll wait until Ft. Wayne next year to try again. Maybe I should plan to come to Dayton in May... I'll have to see when there's another exam opportunity closer to home.
Fifty multiple choice questions. Some are about laws and regulations, some are about electronics or radio terminology and concepts, and some involve formulas and math. I probably screwed up more math than anything else.
The questions are drawn from a much larger pool of possible questions, so the test is different each time you take it.
