In other news, we went to Crystal Lake to meet the "senior" dogs up for adoption. There were almost a dozen of them, every one charming and adorable. But I admit, I've never met a golden retriever I didn't like... We were told that two or three of them were not the best prospect for households with cats. The rest would seem like candidates for us (or we for them, depending on how you look at it.) We should hear from the selection folks in a day or two, I think. Most of these dogs were 8 to 10 years old, and seemed bright and healthy though one is on medication for Cushing's disease and high blood pressure. We liked him, too, and I'd seriously consider taking him on even with the added cost of the medicine.
Weather was milder today, Tess got to go out and was happy about that. In fact, she wasn't eager to come back in and made me walk the full length of the pasture to get her. Once I got close enough though, she came to me and let me attach a lead to her halter. Sort of like saying "Oh, OK, if you insist."
I'm ahead of writing quota, so I'm talking the rest of the evening off to watch Patrick Stewart's rendition of Henry II in The Lion in Winter, with Glenn Close as Eleanor of Aquitaine. Should be interesting.
