I arrived, I saw, I shopped
Dec. 19th, 2010 10:07 pmWell, more or less. Anyway, the most pressing needs are taken care of. And all the necessary daily chores as well. I just need to have some mail order items arrive in time, as promised.
It's cold again, Brrr. Woodstove going, we watched A Muppet Christmas Carol while the dogs snored at our feet and the cats roasted by the stove. Speaking of dogs, Simon and Red got to playing with each other tonight. Haven't seen Simon so much awake since we lost Sarah, and maybe before. I suspect he made the connection between Red and Tee, who was so much like Red in size and behavior. Tee was Simon's best buddy for nearly six years and they used to play that way all the time.
Short week is going to seem long. Only three work days, though. Thursday I have a dentist appointment rather than going to work. Cookie baking commences tomorrow I guess, and I'd like to get some pierogi in there somehow. This requires that I stay awake in the evening rather than dozing off.
I'm amazed that a few Republicans broke with their party to support the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell. Now I wonder if there'll be an orgy of witch-hunting in the military as conservatives try to purge as many gay/lesbian members as possible before the change takes effect.

Date: 2010-12-25 01:28 pm (UTC)Now I'm waiting for the same thing to happen to DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) which is another stupid discriminatory law passed in the same era. That one forbids the federal government from recognizing same sex marriages in any way. As more and more states are officially accepting gay marriage or civil unions, the federal law is going to have to go. There is nothing in the constitution that gives the federal government any real ability to make or enforce such a law.
