What I did not do today
Feb. 6th, 2011 09:57 pmI didn't watch any Super Bowl stuff, not even the Puppy Bowl. The latter might tempt me but we have no access to it anyway.
I didn't edit the spinning guild newsletter, which I really should have done.
I didn't do my barn chores early, because it was snowing at the inch per hour rate then.
I didn't take a nap, though I wanted to.
I didn't weave, though I should have.
I did do some stuff, of course. I made supper (pasta casserole with zucchini and home made Italian sausage bits) and dessert (old fashioned gingerbread with applesauce.) I got some reading done. I ran a load of laundry through. I submitted a portfolio of writing samples in order to be considered for the role of contributing writer to the Tai-Pan Project.
Snow was coming down hard this morning. In all, by noon I think we accumulated nearly four inches of new powder on top of the blizzard leavings from Wednesday last week. Now we're heading into another round of frigid air, as we usually get after a snowstorm.
Tomorrow is Red's last day of basic obedience class. Wednesday will be his first day of beginning agility training.

Much more entertaining, far less obnoxious. Besides, the players are cute and innocent, and it promotes pet adoption.

Date: 2011-02-07 07:43 pm (UTC)Obviously no one is going to root for the "Poodles" or the "Yorkies" right? And though Chihuahuas can be really ugly in packs, I doubt any pro team would choose them as a symbol either.
Going to the dogs
Date: 2011-02-07 07:49 pm (UTC)But dogs are pretty rare in all the pro leagues. There are the Phoenix Coyotes hockey team — their logo is really cool, you might like it — and the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team. That's all I can think of off the top of my head (admittedly I'm not spending a lot of time on it).
Re: Going to the dogs
Date: 2011-02-07 07:59 pm (UTC)Malamutes would make a good team mascot as well. Large, muscular, and noted for fierce independence. Various terriers might qualify, I guess, if you stay away from the pit bull imagery.
Border collies? Hmm, maybe not. Red wolves? Lobos? Wolfhounds? I could perhaps imagine a southern team choosing some kind of hound for a mascot...

Date: 2011-02-07 08:07 pm (UTC)NIU should play Michigan Tech, as they, too, are the Huskies.
Lobos sounds familiar. Maybe a minor league baseball team in the southwest? I'm not quite that sports-geeky to know.
University of Georgia's teams are the Bulldogs. (Unless they spell it "Bulldawgs"; they just might.) I remember a couple of weeks ago they got a top football recruit and they showed him with a bulldog puppie, cutest little guy in the hands of a big hulking lineman-type.
