Feels as if I'd been awake all week

And sort of, I guess, you could say I have. Not even 9 pm yet but I can't stay awake.

Fortunately, there's an excuse to sleep early. Gary has an all day field trip to Chicago with his urban geography class tomorrow. I'll be doing the week's shopping and bank run as well as cleaning barns, etc.

I think the "interesting" thing about the royal wedding wasn't the wedding itself, but all the peanut gallery comments from would-be arbiters of fashion, etiquette, and so forth.

And the most interesting thing about work is that it's now over for the week. Seeya tomorrow folks.

Hello! Far too much coverage. I've been sick of hearing about it for weeks now. You'll recall, I'm sure, that I don't watch television and in fact, since broadcasts switched to all digital a couple of years ago, there is no signal that reaches my home with adequate strength for reception anyway. I do listen to radio news coverage though, and it has been hard to find the real news under all the drivel about Kate and William.

Hearing an American fashion designer snarking at Kate's dress really irritated me this morning though. I've not seen a photo, I don't care what it looked like, and I don't think it was any of his business to complain. He can wear what he wants, and so can she. He was "disappointed." I figure he wanted her to appear in Lady Gaga style, proving he's a total jerk.

The coverage here was fairly subdued until the day itself, then it just exploded in my face like a keg of beer that has had unreleased pressure building up for months.

The Downing Street press office chose the same day to bury some bad news. I don't doubt that they will get away with it again, and again, and again. I am starting to think that most people here get what they deserve.

I had the sound off a lot of the time, and turned it on mostly to hear what the choir were singing...

I deliberately boycotted the event. Of course the live coverage took place at 4 am here anyway.

As far as I'm concerned, the ridiculous behavior of Charles and Andrew with respect to their marriages has completely ruined any respect I might have for royal anything. William has so far managed to escape my disgust, but Harry shows every sign of being just a much a spoiled brat as his uncle Andrew.

I decided I'd better watch some of it; the RF noise on the HF bands was near S8, so playing radio wasn't much of an option. Two things amused me. First, an exchange reported by a friend, which went like this:

Kid: Why are there trees in the Abbey?
Mum: They're guests. Charles invited them.

Second, a "separated at birth" type picture pair showing the groom and one of the Thunderbirds crew.
