Farewell, Simon. Gods, I hope you aren't hurting any more and can run and play again whether there are sheep to chase or only balls.



Shown here in 2000, when he was still young and bouncy, Simon is in the center. On the left is Sunny, who was already about 15 years old, and on the right, Simon's best buddy Tee who died of cancer at age nine, damn it.

Very well done, boy. That'll do.

Simon, sweetie, I already miss you so much I can't stand it.

I'm terribly sorry. As I said in my comment over on your other post already, at least he had a long, happy and fulfilling live with the best human companions he could ask for, but — still, that doesn't make it easier.

Thanks. I'll be all right. I've lived through this before, and no doubt before long I'll find another dog. I always do. Simon was special because I got him when he was still tiny and he has been with me ever since. Usually I give a home to someone else's castaways instead.

Thanks. Even when you know it's coming (and we had two years' warning, actually, starting with the cancer diagnosis) it still seems unbelievable when it hits. He was one tough pup, surviving all the things he did and keeping his disposition to the end.

Sorry, again. *hugs* Every time we lose a dog I swear we won't go through it again. Then another little friend comes along to help heal that pain.

Yeah. I've said that so many times that I'm not saying it now. Just "wait and see what happens." The adoption people we got Red from have already been asking us if we're still willing to take an older dog (7 years is "older" to them.) Gary had told them not until Simon is gone. It may be a few months, but I suspect we'll have two dogs again.

Thanks. It's not easy, even though I've known for two years that he had a cancer that would be fatal in the end. I got him when he was still a tiny puppy, and 16 years is a long time to have a friend with you and then suddenly lose him.

Thanks. Still not any easier, but we're making it. I'm still looking to make sure he isn't in one of his favorite places before I step there.
