Drip steam
Jul. 23rd, 2011 10:02 pmMore rain overnight, still soaked down into the ground. Gloom this morning gave way to some sun in the afteroon, so we used the charcoal grill to make dinner.
Managed to get UAE (the Amiga emulator) working on the Linux box. Now I just need to transfer some stuff over from the real Amiga 3000, which hasn't been booted up for a couple of years I think. I'd like to retrieve the SAS C development environment at the very least, and probably some other tools like wshell.
Gary has been dutifully rebuilding the duck house and yard to make it fox and raccoon proof. This means welded wire instead of chicken wire, including over the top and on the ground to prevent climbing in or digging in. Now I'm thinking of Chicken Run and picturing the ducks trying to get out rather than foxes trying to get in.
Made a spicy bean dip and my mom's broccoli-cauliflower salad to go with dinner. Both turned out well, though the dip lacked heat even with a whole jalapeno run through the food processor with the beans. I left the seeds in and everything.
Gary has another performance tomorrow afternoon, and he's busy copying and preparing set lists and music.
Bedtime, I guess.

Date: 2011-07-24 12:38 pm (UTC)This was a fresh pepper from the market. The same recipe has been considerably spicier when made with peppers from our garden that had been frozen for a year or two. Freezing very likely breaks open more cells in the seeds and inner membranes where the greatest concentration of capsaicin is usually found.
