It's that day again

I swear, when I'm stuck on the desk alone I attract all the weirdest cases within 20 miles or more.

Also, I've got a public catalog machine that dies when it is left out overnight, but runs for days without a hitch when I bring it back to the workroom to try to figure out what's wrong with it. Fortunately, I have several idle spares so tomorrow I'm going to just yank the hard disk out of it and swap with another machine.

Not so hot today, quite, and a little less humid too I think. When we left the building at 8:10 it didn't feel all that bad.

Tomorrow Gary wants to go to the county fair, so that's what we'll be doing in the afternoon. Our own county disappoints me though, so I want to go to the next county over. Theirs is next week, and they have lots of big draft horses. We can probably go on Thursday, when there should be Clydesdales there. Yay.

Maybe when they build that bridge. Or I get a real pegasus. No commercial air flights for me, thanks, and cruise ships are way too expensive.

I'm really not a traveler, which is good since I have this whole menagerie of dependents who can't look after themselves for very long at a time.

I dislike flying too. I tend to try to sleep through it. Though the most stressful bit is the messing about in the airports

I went sour on airports way back even before the Lockerbie bombing. I don't like being treated as "guilty until proven innocent" and especially when the demands keep getting harsher and harsher. If flying has to be that demeaning and submissive, I'm not doing it period.

I consider the current level of airport privacy-invasion to have absolutely nothing to do with safety and everything to do with control-by-intimidation-and-fear. It's a tactic that the Bush Administration took right from the NAZIs and the current administration doesn't have the guts to say no to it.

Hmm could it be a location issue? Seeing as it works fine back in the workroom?

It shouldn't be the location, since the failure is a total refusal to boot or even go into the BIOS setup screen. And when I move it back out there, it runs OK for a day or two before shutting down like that again.

No cats at the county fair. Not even many horses at this one.
