Unproductive

Sudden unexpected thunderstorm and power glitches. Steamy afternoon to follow. Soft tire on car in spite of having reinflated it just two days ago. Neighbors as noisy as a construction site with multiple large machines running, mowing over debris with loud explosive noises, other neighbors screaming and shouting at each other. Too many unpleasant distractions.

At least dinner turned out well. I took a short cut in a traditional family recipe for chicken baked with rice, but got away with it.

Oh, the joy of summer and noisy neighbours... Here it's usually just grandchildren both sides, though as one lot includes a set of triplets that can get quite noisy, and the new kids over the road have a noisy way of playig with skate-boards. There was, however, one day last week when the hedge-trimming contractors were dealing with the monster hedges one down...

I guess I need to own at least 120 acres to be able to hear birds and wildlife instead of blaring televisions and defective mufflers all day. Sigh.

My across the way neighbor is building an "attached garage:" it's larger than my home. The workmen and heavy equipment appear around 7:00 a.m. each morning and there's noise over there all day, six and sometimes seven days a week. It's been a long summer listening to this. So far none of them has decided to play music, at least *knock knock*.

Oh, and my neighbors themselves? They must have a summer home because they've only been heard over there once or twice since this started.

Well, at least you can look forward to the "end" of that kind of project. Three summers ago the highway people were replacing a bridge on a major state route that runs parallel to our two-lane road. They detoured all the traffic, including heavy trucks, past our front door for about four months and 24 hours a day. It did finally end and we were sure glad when it did.
