Not as cold as last night, but certainly cold enough. The near-full moon is lighting up the snow whenever it peeks between clouds, and tomorrow we're supposed to get snow again. This is turning into a repeating pattern, snow at midweek each week it seems.

One more day and this short work week is over. Unfortunately, it's a Wednesday again, and doesn't look like I'll get off early yet another time unless the snow is a lot heavier and starts earlier than currently predicted.

Some of you know that I've been acting as moderator for the user forums on FurRag.com, a furry writing site, for several months now. I'm being invited to serve as an administrator for the rest of the site as well. Normally I'd probably decline, but this time there is a real need and no one else to step in at the moment. The site runs on PHP and MySQL, with which I have some familiarity but I'm certainly not fluent in either. I may need help at some point. I probably need help for even considering it, but I'd like to see this site stay alive. At the moment, we have an influx of new members who seem to be fleeing the shakeup at SoFurry.

Now I need to go in the other room by the stove, before my fingers become completely stiffened.

If you need assistance on FurRag, you can give me a ping. Developing with PHP and MySQL is what I've been doing as a day job for the last three years and for about three years before that, with stints as a technical writer in between. And I have some interest in writing sites.

(That Claw & Quill is being developed with Python and PostgreSQL shouldn't be construed as a comment on how I feel about PHP and MySQL. I mean, it is, but I'm pretending it isn't.)

ROFL. Nice understatement. Thanks for the offer, I'll keep that in mind. I agree with you about PostgreSQL vs. MySQL but like so many software things, it seems that the best tool never wins the popularity contest even when both are free and open source. PHP doesn't excite me either, but at least I know a little of it, as opposed to nothing of Python.

I don't plan to start customizing the code in any case. FurRag is quite usable as it stands, and the major issue in my opinion has been some problems with spammers that may require code adjustment. Both the main site and the forums are based on publicly available script packages. If this happens, I'll be a caretaker rather than a developer. My main concern is to keep the site alive as a site where writers can focus on their art, rather than on the accumulation of "followers" or "favorites." That seems to be the concern of our remaining active users, and I'm in agreement with it.

I may come to you with a question or two eventually, but I don't want to draw you away from your work on C&Q either, as we're all looking forward to that.

Full moon is the 31st, just to keep the revelers reveling more spiritedly.

Our snow is minimal now, but what remains glows brilliantly in the bright moonlight. We have that cold air which will keep it from disappearing altogether (10 windy degrees tonight, bringing the wind chill to negative numbers). Good luck Wednesday :o)

Thanks. I expect it will be quiet by evening.

The snow here is deep and the moonlight brilliant when the clouds open up. However, another snowstorm is due in this afternoon and evening so the moon may be wasted on us.

A nice, cold change of pace...

Curiously, it was cold- relatively- here in Florida last night, too. The thermometer I saw said 49 degrees, but I'm not quite sure- it didn't feel that cold to me. Everybody was indoors as I walked home in the dark, well light by the glow of the moon. It's so nice to be able to get away from the commotion & confusion inherent with people.

Uh oh a pony with power :D
Still I'm sure you'll be a fair and reasonable moderator.
