More snow-ow-ow
Dec. 30th, 2009 10:37 pmAn inch of new stuff since sunset and still falling. 'S pretty but I can't stay awake any longer and Gary's not back from his performance and I hope he's careful driving 'cuz it's slippery.
And tomorrow back down to single digits. Ok, that's enough winter.

Date: 2009-12-31 11:39 pm (UTC)Fortunately, we have electricity this time and plenty of wood. Stove is already going, and I have orange chicken in the crock pot to be ready about 7. Gary's mom is here for New Year's Eve, then his brother will pick her up to go to his house after lunch tomorrow.

Date: 2010-01-01 01:59 am (UTC)How I long for such things. The snow I have plenty of but I'm getting a bit tired of the constant -20C or lower that I've had to deal with for the past month.
Keep warm, and enjoy the snow while you can. Winter can't last forever (except perhaps where I live.).

Date: 2010-01-01 02:25 am (UTC)The temperature drop this afternoon was abrupt. We were near freezing this morning and that held until 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Then the bottom fell right out, dropping as much as 5° an hour. (Of course, I'm speaking Fahrenheit here. If the forecast is correct, we'll be in your range by morning, somewhere around -17C or 0F.)
I'm OK with it as long as I have somewhere to get warm. The woodstove is going and we have plenty of wood. The sheep have lots of wool on them and don't seem to be bothered, and the horses are all fuzzed out right now but I do worry about them a bit. We put them indoors at night, so they aren't in the wind. Their body heat keeps the barn as much as 20°F higher than the outside temperature, even though there is no insulation in the walls. (They do have two layers of wood with a half inch gap between.)
