Things got done today, and undone, and it was good.
Farmers' market, lunch, Aldi's, and then Wisted's (our usual grocer.) Aborted the original dinner plan because I found two reasonably priced steaks at the latter, and the weather was clear, breezeless, and in the 60s so perfect for charcoal grilling. Could well be the last chance of the year, so we took it. Turned out well, too.
Tomorrow we will be virtuous to make up for it, and have the Swiss chard still left in the garden made into a vegetarian casserole with eggs and cheese, probably home made biscuits too.
New Linux software seems more sensitive to weak wi-fi signals. I'm picking up a wireless router from the neighbors on the east. Their house is probably 500 feet away. It's unencrypted and completely open, too.
In the past year, the time since we first added wireless networking here, we've never picked up any one else's network inside the house. This is a first.
Dog and cat are asleep on the sofa, snuggled together, but if I get up to get a camera they're guaranteed to move. So no picture, sorry.

Date: 2011-10-24 02:20 pm (UTC)My usefulness here at Open Source Ecology's Factor e Farm has proven to be very limited. The documentation work I can do in the form of technical writing, I could just as easily achieve offsite based on the videography now being produced here by experienced video documentators. I have started to learn animation that can supplement the video work being done, but my laptop is really proving inadequate to the task; due to the lack of robustness of the "off-grid" power and the high consumption of my desktop, I am unable to use my desktop computer here which is more capable of handling animation.
It would probably happen some time after the 15th, as through the 15th my friend and I are endeavoring to help construct the "Hab Lab," a permanent housing facility. Most of the "housing" here in northwestern Missouri is temporary and not suitable for winter habitation (in fact, Nov. 15th was the deadline set by the project director based on the normal weather patterns here).
