No Snow day
Dec. 4th, 2011 08:57 pmFairly productive day in spite of the urge to drowse off all the time. Sleep deficit is catching up, will try to reform tonight by going to bed early.
Animal chores, check. Edit and post guild newsletter, check. Bake apple pie, check. Make pizza and spinach salad for supper, check. Wind all the 8-day clocks, check. ;p
Did not get as far as working on illustrations for Rollng Stock which had been on my list of intentions for the weekend. Taking a nap became a pressing priority today but I managed to stave it off too.
Sky was gray and threatening all day, with occasional gusty winds and falling temperatures. The rain from yesterday and overnight stopped though. Temperature when I got up at 5:30 am was 51F. By sunset it was 34F, after dropping slowly from dawn to dusk. .

Date: 2011-12-05 08:01 pm (UTC)By the way, your syndication to LJ hasn't been updating in a couple of days. I know that's not a priority for you, and maybe you aren't the one who maintains that. Just wanted to mention it. It could be related to the DDOS that's been happening on LJ this weekend (and now into Monday, according to their status).

Date: 2011-12-05 08:11 pm (UTC)It's been flurrying a bit here on and off, though they didn't originally predict that for today. Looking at the radar, it seems we have a wind off Lake Michigan that is bringing lake effect 70+ miles inland to hit us here. We're about 300 feet above lake level, and apparently the elevation contributes to that. Temperatures are right around freezing, which is normally kinda warm for lake effect I thought.

Date: 2011-12-05 08:59 pm (UTC)I didn't remember the Russian parliamentary elections were here until I saw Rantsparrow/Zenicurean's post in LJ a little while ago. Maybe once the current attack finishes working its way through LJ's system, things will be calm for a while. I wouldn't be surprised at further attacks, with Russia's presidential election coming in March. In general, I don't mind the Russian presence on LJ; it's probably what's kept the service afloat these last few years. But the DDOS attacks make it impossible to use when they're bad.
Lake effect snow for you? Wow. Aren't you lucky? :)

Date: 2011-12-06 01:43 pm (UTC)LiveJournal is currently up, but still under a DDOS attack. Due to some aspects of DDoS protection system, LiveJournal is temporarily disabling support for third party services (Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc.).
...which seems to imply that Facebook, Twitter, and Google (at least) are being used in some way as a part of the attack. Hmmm.
