Despite a forecast for warmer temperatures tonight, we're down in the 20s again.

Spent a good part of the day on computer issues that shouldn't be issues, but they are. Success in resolving a couple, others remain problematic.

Finished knitting another cap, will give this one to Gary.

And that't the extent of the news, I guess.

I have always treated weather "forecasts" more like "educated guesses, based on satellite photos". They usually are wildly inaccurate, the only things that they can predict fairly accurately is the time sun rises and sets.

I noticed you were shooting trouble at the network yesterday when you were on IRC. Any luck getting things to work, or is the network still giving trouble? I remember you mentioning something about firewall and remote connection a few days back, but not sure what it was all about.

How did the cap turn out? I have some wooly hats too, but they are gray. They are quite plain-looking, but at least they are warm. :P
The selection sold in stores here in Finland leaves a lot to be desired. But then again, the finnish clothing stores aren't much to write home about. Here is a prime example of a typical Finnish outfit.

Horrible, isn't it? :D

Over here they sometimes even forget the "forecast" side, and just say what the weather has been like, and is like at the moment... ;)

They should just forget about "predicting" the weather here too. All they can say for sure is "Sun will rise in the morning, and it is dark at night" or "Weather is going to be clear unless it rains".

Here we live with the tradition of the "there is no hurricane on the way so don't worry" forecast which was delivered just hours before the hurricane arrived and flattened half the country. Ok, I exaggerate the flattening, but... ;)

I get the idea. At least it is not quite that bad here in Finland. We can get strong winds, storms or snow with zero visibility but we manage. :P

Poor chilly pony! I send you warm thoughts on a winter's eve.

I know it's as much my own laziness as anything else, but I miss you. I guess I need to start posting (or e-mailing) more! My life has just been so busy and engaging and, last year at least, difficult that it's been hard to keep up with anyone, even specific librarians whose smile I hope to see one day :)

Peace be with you, my friend, and know that you are thought of with fondness.

Light and laughter,
SongCoyote
