No, I'm not talking about golf scores. Today's high at the house was 81F, first time over 80 for us this year. The normal high temperature is probably about 58F and I'm sure this broke all recorded highs for the date. Chicago has been warmer for several days, but however you look at it, we've had about a week of record breaking temperatures for March. All the spring bulbs are blooming at once, the willows and maples are in full flower, and birds are singing up a regular orgy. I'm sure it can't last much longer. While I don't expect more snow or freezing nights after this, more seasonable temperatures and the usual gray and gloomy skies of March are bound to return.

Work was exceptionally quiet. Probably the weather keeping people away in hordes. Door count only 650 compared with double that a week ago. I'm covering Interlibrary Loan again for a week or so while the regular specialist is out of town. I don't mind much, it's interesting hunting down stuff people are having difficulty in finding.

Duck is still at it, an egg every single day, rain or shine. She hit 160 eggs in an unbroken streak at the beginning of the week. Days are longer now, I expect her to continue unless she runs into health issues.

Tess is already getting acclimated to pasture grass, and eager to go out every time there's a chance. I still have to limit her daily time out there for a month or so.

Oh, and raccoons have invaded the arena. When I was out there this morning I heard a sound and looked up just in time to see a fat striped tail disappearing over the wooden barrier that lines the outside wall. The coon slipped down between the boards and the steel panel and outdoors under the bottom of the metal.

We, on the other paw/hoof, are below normal, getting hit again tonight with more snow. We're about twenty degrees Fahrenheit below our normal temperatures.

We're predicted to hit 80F today, and grilled burgers are on the menu.

Yesterday was slow at work here, as well. Everyone will remember us one half hour before closing come Saturday...

We're up to about 14°C / 57°F here today; I'm sitting at the computer with the window open, and I'm sweating (thanks to the sun shining in right at me).

I'm really impressed with your duck's performance.

And raccoons? Cute. *s* That said, will it be a problem to have them living there?
