Today was a day for cooking. Not that I shouldn't have been doing other stuff, because I should have, but for some reason I got into the mood. Waffles for breakfast, black bean salad and home made pizza for dinner, strawberry rhubarb pie...

Oh, and for lunch we shared the leftovers I brought home from dinner on Friday. I ordered chicken fajitas and they brought a huge portion of everything.

Nice weather, though it's getting really crispy at night, with patchy frost warnings. The apple blossoms are nearly done but we don't need a freeze. I dunno if any pollination happened, I never saw a single bee of any kind near the trees. They sure smelled nice though.

Milestone. Today Tess remembered and came to me when I stood at the pasture gate and called her. We worked on that last summer until she was pretty reliable, but I thought she'd forgotten it over the winter. Today she did it on the first try. A couple of pauses to grab a mouthful of grass, but once she started toward me, she didn't change direction and came right to me. Yay.

Now it's time for bed. Work tomorrow. Sheep shearing on Thursday. Anyone want some raw wool?

you're just trying to make it so that you have that much less to card! :p

I don't mind carding, actually. It's cleaning the dirty wool first that's the real drag.

*sits in front of the fridge looking hopeful*
Tess doesn't follow you about?

You're in luck, the fridge is overloaded with leftovers. How about some chicken stirfry with rice?

Tess will follow me about, in fact, if she has eaten enough so she doesn't think she's starving any more. It's sort of fun having a huge shadow like that, but she's very chatty about it too. Mares usually talk to their foals a lot, and she makes all kinds of sounds I couldn't even begin to imitate myself. The boys will follow too, but they usually don't have much to say.

"...milestone..."

THANK YOU!
I've been looking all over for that word. I was coming up with things like 'landmark', but "this is an important landmark in my development" just sounded horribly off.

I hate it when I forget words.
