How does the garden grow?

Like Jack's beanstalk in some cases (beans, cucumbers) and like a snail in others (peppers, tomatoes.) I think the potatoes are about done, but I need to dig down to make sure.
Here is yesterday's haul of cucumbers:

I do love cucumbers. However, since husband Gary dislikes them, I'm going to have a problem eating this many. I may have to make some pickles. Or feed them to the ducks if they keep producing at this rate.

Much love to you and husband and everybeing on your farm!

Date: 2015-08-23 03:38 pm (UTC)On the other paw, the surviving trees in what I once hoped would be a tiny orchard have born heavily this year. First time in 16 years since they were planted. I gave up on them years ago, so they haven't been sprayed or fertilized. The apples are small and wormy, but there are a lot of them.
Beans and squash are blooming like mad but no actual fruit or pods yet. There may be potatoes, if they didn't rot from all the early rain. Eggplant and okra are in severe doubt because no flowers yet and September is on the horizon. If the frost holds off long enough, maybe.
It is fortunate that I don't have to rely on my own not-so-green hooves to have food on the table. ;P

My own plum tree went rather madder than usual this year, too. We and our neighbors must have picked a hundred plums already, and it's still full of fruit. Darned thing doesn't know when to quit!
And if the garden outside isn't at its best, here's hoping the garden of your heart is keeping well and continues to feed your spirit <3

Date: 2015-08-24 06:03 pm (UTC)I try to manifest the kinder side of Coyote whenever I can. He's not always nice, after all, any more than coyotes are, and I can supply lessons with teeth when needed.
I'd rather do it with words and kisses, though!
