Audio fox hunt

Fox graduate student Rusty takes on the role of quarry in a ham radio foxhunt. When a careless misstep leads to a dangerous situation, he needs a helping paw (or several.) Fortunately, the right wolf is at hand to help him out. Khaki Doggy reads my previously unpublished story "Catch Me if You Can" on his podcast The Voice of Dog. (About 30 minutes duration, suitable for all audiences.)

A local friend brought up Khaki Doggy in conversation. He thought the early audio stuff was rough, but that Khaki is now doing quite a good job at voice acting. Anyway, he was surprised I knew someone close to Khaki. :)

Khaki and I have been friends for at least 15 years or so. Back when he was running Bad Dog Books his series ROAR published the first furry story I ever had in print.

As far as The Voice of Dog goes I thought the first stories were better done than, say, the kind of stuff you get on LibriVox. Now that he has recorded more than 50 episodes, I'm amazed at what he's doing.

You can hear someone not quite so good this weekend when he releases a recording of me reading my own story, "Beyond Mundane Horizons." 🐴

Oh! That's a surprising connection. My friend Fuzzwolf has taken over the Bad Dog Books imprint now. He and I have been friends for almost the same amount of time.

I know Fuzz too, from online contact, but not as well as I know Khaki. I was a moderator for Khaki's website FurRag.com for two or three years before it closed down. I'm curious why you would think that surprising.

Furry is often a smaller world than it seems, at least when you get down to the most visible leaders and creators. True, Khaki and I don't agree on everything, but we respect each other's opinions and share readily where we do agree (which is most of the time, I'd say.)

Until this week, I knew nothing of Khaki except that you had recommended his voice acting. :P

I am very proud of the work Fuzzwolf has done with Furplanet. I knew him when he was unemployed and doing publishing work for free for Nexxus. I loaned Fuzz some money to help buy Furplanet from Nexxus. The subsequent improvement in the company was immense.

A funny side effect is that I'm now two steps removed from many people famous within the fandom, since Fuzz knows so many of them from publishing their novels and comics. But yeah, as you say, the furry fandom is an oddly small place at times.

And I have to agree that Furplanet has come a long way under Fuzzwolf's leadership. Thanks for helping to get that started.
