Aftermath...
Sep. 26th, 2006 10:20 pmSo. The glass replacement guy called at 8:30 this morning and said he'd be in to look at the window and estimate the repair. He never showed up.
The ADT alarm technician did finally show late in the day, but couldn't explain how the burglar managed to avoid setting off the alarm. As usual, ADT makes it our fault. Whenever their equipment doesn't work, it's our fault, even if they can't explain what we did wrong.
Police detective came back to verify some things, and listened to my suggested scenario for the whole event. He seemed to find it plausible. Then he told us that there has been a series of these break-ins over the past few days, all with similar methods (break window at rear of building, grab a few items indiscriminately, and go out the back door). They've happened up and down US14, the main street through town, though the library is actually six blocks away from that highway. Typically two or three places have been hit each night, and he thinks as I do, that the burglars are inexperienced and probably teens.
Finished the shawl I've been working on forEVer, which is what happens when you start with the wool and go through the whole process. It looks nice, though. Photos tomorrow hopefully. Gotta get busy, now. I need to finish a skein of silk by Thursday and a skein of linen before Monday, as well as finishing the weaving of one more scarf that's been sitting on the loom. Monday is when we hang the show. Weaving gets judged Tuesday, spinning and knitting on Thursday, the same day the show opens.
Weather finally looks like September. Clear blue skies and cool temperatures. I should go out and look at the stars, but I think I'm too sleepy tonight.
Oh, and Fur-Piled has been updated, ending one chapter and starting another. A must for fans of Husky, Saetto, and their friends.

Re: That's Terrible
Date: 2006-09-27 06:33 pm (UTC)Yes. The WWG/HTS show opens in Woodstock on Thursday, October 5 and runs through Sunday, October 29. Gallery hours are 11 am to 5 pm Thursday through Saturday, and 1 to 5 pm on Sundays. Opening reception (with refreshments and live music) for both concurrent shows (the other is the Woodstock Clayworkers Guild) will be on Sunday, October 8, from 1 to 3 pm. Gary will be one of the musicians at the reception, and I'll be demonstrating spinning.
If you can make it up to the show any time while it's open, let us know when so we can plan dinner or lunch or something with you.
