As you no doubt know, Wednesday is usually my least favorite day of the week. This was shaping up to be a bad one. The vet was due, the well men were coming to finally dig up the barn floors and fix those pipes that froze last winter before it was freezing again out, Gary's group was supposed to rehearse at our house this afternoon amid all that, and of course I had to work late as usual for Wednesday.

After much scrabbling on Gary's part to get things moved in the barns for the well guys, and spending three days to get in touch with the vet and get her rescheduled so she wouldn't arrive when there is a gaping hole in the barn floor, the well men called to cancel because "it looked like rain" and the vet called to cancel because she is sick. So neither thing happened. The rehearsal did take place, but the rain held off until almost 8 pm, coming just in time so I had to drive home through it. Tomorrow's forecast is a 90% chance of heavy thunderstoms.

Work wasn't great either but of course it is Wednesday. A woman stormed out of the library insisting I was rude to her because I asked her not to use her cell phone. (We have signs to that effect, but people just ignore them.) Fortunately the boss and another worker were right there and had heard how she was screeching into her phone so that her conversation carried all the way across the building. The teenagers were being irritating and obnoxious about the computers and internet usage.

Someone who noticed on the web that I have Alpha computers offered me another one for free if I'd pay the shipping. However, it turned out to be just a new CPU chip, apparently unused, but a later one than my machines so it couldn't even be dropped into them and I declined with thanks.

At least supper was good. We had leftover pizza from what I made on Monday, and some spicy gumbo soup. Because of an abundance of treats brought to Gary's rehearsal, I guess we have a choice of desserts in a few minutes here, as well.

Very odd... I've had two posts in the last week that reached the 50+ comment level where LJ collapses the listing into threads. The last one, about "books by the yard" is almost up to 90. I wonder what happens if it goes over a hundred? Probably I win a booby prize. LJ has just noticed that I'm not renewing my paid account and has started sending me invitations to do so. However, it ain't happening, SixApart. You obviously thought you wouldn't miss me, so, you can do without my money at least.

You get lots of comments. I didn't have anything sensible to add.

First it was fruit by the foot, now its books by the yard. What next?

See? Nothing sensible. ;-P

Heh. Another American stupidity. Meet your daily nutritional needs by eating some kind of processed "stuff" that is made out of fruit. Sort of.

Well, the best way to get a lot of responses it seems is to post something that is either controversial in nature or shocking and ridiculous. Or any subject that nearly every person out there has a strong opinion on. Or stir up drama. Or in rarer cases, you could say one bad thing and end up getting bombarded with replies from a single person :P

I have noticed this, as well.

I don't mind responses, but given that those are the ways to get them, it worries me when I get a sudden avalanche of comments. I'm not interested in saying outrageous things or stirring up drama.

6A are not getting my cash next time round either. The worst of the insanity does seem to have stopped now; but the damage has been done.

Precisely. But I don't think they get it yet.

Dear Rider.

Well, just think of the fun you will have with Steed at MFF. His hooves are almost finished (acrylic painting the lines and colors on the hoof faces in layers each evening) and the tail base is figured out and nearly finished. Of course the head is finished and have the duds so soon it will be down to hand-hooves. By the way, he will be six - three in height not including ears. Big Stud Yea!

Grin.

Just throttle the internet speed that'll get rid of the teens, When they get on just slow it right down >:}

As for the woman with her cell phone, typical selfish type that goes off when someone tells her she can't do something. Probably hassles everyone like that.

Yes, the cell phone users are hopeless. You have it exactly right.

So are the teens, I'm afraid. Our internet speed is not that great anyway. In theory we have T1, but in practice it's more like cable. Thing is, our area is so limited in terms of internet access options, and so many families have no computers at home anyway, that they are going to hang around here no matter what we do (short of removing the public internet machines entirely, which I'd be perfectly willing to do but the board won't go for it.)

Heh, I once had some lady try to go off on me in a library by accusing me of taking her computer once. I was like, "Yours? Do you own it? May I borrow it for awhile?" You get off, you give it up, especially when you leave no evidence you might return... Queens of the Harpies :P

Men can be just as bad or worse. We have several who come in to use our machines because the ones they have at home are "too slow". Every problem they have with using the internet, and believe me, they have many, gets blamed on me. I'm accused of constantly changing the software, blocking the sites they want to get to, changing the way things look on the screen. None of that is true, of course. I haven't touched the setup on those public machines in 18 months now. Some software pieces get automatically upgraded when appropriate, but I don't have anything to do with that. No, their problem is simply that they don't know what they're doing, can't remember things, and being male, can't admit to either one.

Aww... *strokes your mane to soothe you a bit* sorry to hear that. I don't mind admitting I'm wrong, but for me it's usually a game...half the time i have fun with it, I'll have to make a point of explaining that in a future post.

For some reason, your little title improv- which amused me, I must say- made me think of Grumpy from Snow White saying, "You crazy nannygoats makin' me sick with your bluuh bluhh bluhh!"
